What a price chart is telling you
Charts show how a price changed over a chosen period.
A chart is a history
A price chart plots a stock's price over time. The same stock can look calm over a day and bumpy over a year, depending on the time range you choose.
Start with the basics
Look at the dates, the price scale, and whether the line is generally rising, falling, or moving sideways. A chart describes what happened; it does not promise what happens next.
Context beats one dramatic move
A sharp move can matter, but ask what period you are seeing and what caused it. Zooming out often makes a scary-looking daily move easier to understand.
