Risk vs. reward
Higher possible returns always come with higher risk.
The core trade-off
There's no free lunch. Anything offering a higher possible return also carries a higher chance of loss. If someone promises big rewards with 'no risk,' that's the #1 sign of a scam.
Safe vs. risky, in plain terms
A savings account is very safe but grows slowly. A single small company's stock might double — or drop by half. Neither is 'right'; they're different points on the risk/reward line.
Risk you can live with
The goal isn't zero risk — it's taking risk you can actually stomach and afford. Money you'll need next month shouldn't be in something that can drop 30% next week.
